Timothy Brooks is co-director of Carolina Outreach, LLC. He has worked in the field of mental health since 1990, with experience in direct services, research, and management. Tim earned his Bachelor of Arts in sociology from North Carolina State University and his Master of Social Work from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. He has been a board member for other youth and family-related non-profits, including the National Family Preservation Network and Scotties Place. He lives in Durham with his wife and three children.

Thomas Reid (Board Chair) is co-director of Carolina Outreach, LLC. He has worked with children and their families in both residential and community-based settings since 1988. Tom earned a Bachelor of Arts in psychology from the State University of New York at Oneonta and his Master of Social Work from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. He lives in Chapel Hill with his wife, Jackie, and son, Ethan.

Tiffany Elder is managing broker for Paradigm Properties, in Durham, North Carolina, and has worked as a licensed broker in North Carolina since 2004. She earned her Master of Business Administration from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and her Bachelor of Science in computer science from the University of Illinois at Champaign-Urbana. Tiffany is also a North Carolina Licensed General Contractor. Her interests include community revitalization, historic restoration, and green building.

Ben Feldman is a serial entrepreneur who is currently a partner in Bootstrap Advisors. Prior to Bootstrap, Ben was a founder and partner in Thundershirt, which sells a patented garment for dogs that reduces stress by providing gently calming pressure to the dog’s torso. Ben has also been involved in starting and growing several other entrepreneurial companies including Snaptotes.com, Rapidata.net, MDEverywhere, Austram and TradeCheck. Ben received his Bachelor’s Degree in Economics from Duke University in 1990 and his MBA from the Fuqua School of Business in 1994.

Brian Gullette is the CEO of Turnsmith, a Chapel Hill, NC, company that provides a continuous inventory optimization SaaS solution to leading “lean” manufacturers. Brian is an accomplished sales and marketing executive and technology entrepreneur, having founded and managed several Internet-based big data, business intelligence and advertising/marketing SaaS companies. He received a Masters in Public Policy from Duke University and a Bachelor of Arts in Geography from the University of North Carolina at Wilmington.

Roger Lassiter is project controller for Siemens Medical Solutions in Cary, North Carolina, with more than fifteen years of experience in financial analysis, accounting, and business operation functions. He earned his Bachelor of Arts in accounting from North Carolina State University and is a Certified Public Accountant. Roger believes in supporting community programs that empower disadvantaged youth and families and hopes to make a difference in the lives of those less fortunate.

Mike Riley is an attorney at Martin & Jones, PLLC, in Raleigh, NC. Since joining the firm in 1995, he has focused his practice on representing individuals suffering from occupational diseases including malignant mesothelioma and other cancers. Mike serves as a member of the Trust Advisory Committee for the C. E. Thurston Asbestos Trust and as a pro bono arbitrator for the Eagle-Picher Trust. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in mathematics from Wake Forest University and a Juris Doctor from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. He lives in Raleigh with his wife, Sharon.

Tanaya Robinson grew up in New York City and relocated to Durham several years ago, where she has since graduated from Hillside High School. She is currently pursuing her medical coding certificate at Durham Technical Community College and one day hopes to become a pathologist. Tanaya enjoys volunteering her time, taking part in her community, and helping others.

Joe Battle is an executive with 20+ years of experience in sales, marketing, business development, account management and IT. Leadership experience in multiple industries: technology, consumer packaged goods, market research and business services. A Durham native, with both an undergraduate degree and a MBA from Duke University.

Ari Medoff is married to his summer camp sweetheart, Diana, and they are the proud parents of a ridiculously charismatic two-year old, Shai, and adorable new baby Juliet. Ari is the CEO and Owner of Nurse Care of North Carolina. Prior to Nurse Care of NC, he worked in private equity in New York City, first in venture capital and merchant banking. He was part of teams investing in consumer products, healthcare services, hotels, and enterprise software. He has also worked for the head of a world-renowned healthcare system and helped start a medical clinical trials company. Ari earned an MBA/MPP at the Harvard Business School and Kennedy School of Government as a David Rubenstein Fellow and Bill George Fellow and graduated from Duke University as a Benjamin N. Duke Leadership Scholar. Ari was the founding Chairman of the Junior Board of Directors of Seeds of Peace and stays actively involved with the volunteer leadership of the organization, and has been a Big Brother to two for over a decade.

Nick Black is the Managing Partner of Victory Social Capital, a Durham based alternative investment firm that’s innovative approach correlates financial return to positive social outcomes. Nick is also the co-founder and chief operating officer of Stop Soldier Suicide, a 501(c)(3) dedicated to curbing the rate of suicide within active-duty service members as well as veterans. Nick graduated from Johns Hopkins University with a degree in Political Science, and from University of North Carolina’s Kenan-Flagler Business School with a Master’s in Business Administration. He served five years active duty service as an Officer in the United States Army deployed to combat zones in Afghanistan for 27 months. Nick is married and enjoys free time with his wife Amanda, running marathons, and participating in triathlons.
